Description:
Senior Companions of South Dakota is a volunteer program that provides in-home assistance and respite care to older adults and adults with disabilities in more than 50 communities across South Dakota.
Senior Companion activities might include:
Companionship through visits
Transportation
Meal planning and preparation
Light housekeeping
Playing cards or other games
Reminiscing or just enjoying the friendship of a peer.
Senior Companions of South Dakota is sponsored by The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society.
We don’t charge a fee for our Senior Companions service. Instead, we work to connect to those who need our services. We don’t consider income in determining need, but we do consider disabilities and the availability of other assistance. Senior Companions serve older adults, as well as anyone ages 21 and up in need of help.
Regular visits by Senior Companions are available to individuals in their homes or apartments.
