Description:
SFHRC provides rental assistance to approximately 2,000 households through seven programs. These programs include: Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (Voucher), Section 8 Moderate Rehabilitation (Mod Rehab), Section 8 Project-based Multi-family Public Housing, Veteran's Administration Supportive Housing (VASH), Shelter Plus Care, Bright Futures (HOME tenant based rental), and Housing Opportunities for Persons with HIV/AIDS (HOPWA). Some of these programs are targeted to special populations. Please see links for additional information about each program and the specific eligibility criteria for each and application instructions.
In addition to the programs listed above, SFHRC manages non-subsidized, affordable properties owned by Affordable Housing Solutions. In order to move into one of these properties your household income must be at or below certain limits and must be high enough to pay the rent on your own. There is no rental assistance available for these properties.
Eligibility is based on the following criteria:
** Households with annual income of 50% or less of area median income.
** Head of household must be 18 years of age or older, or legally emancipated.
** For single person households, priority is given to single persons who are age 62 or older or have a disability.
** Persons who have committed drug or violent crimes and registered sex offenders may not qualify for some or all programs.
